University of California San Francisco Give to UCSF

The Gladstone Data Science Training Program provides learning opportunities and hands-on workshops to improve your skills in bioinformatics and computational analysis. Gain new skills and get support with your questions and data. This program is co-sponsored by UCSF School of Medicine.

Are you reaching the limits of your laptop? Are you new to working on clusters and high performance computing (HPC)? New to Wynton? This workshop will start with basic definitions for computing in a cluster environment, including types of nodes, queues, and containers. It will also cover how to transfer files, submit jobs, and run analyses. Analyses can be simple scripts, pipelines, or custom-built containers.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Get around Wynton
  • Transfer files to and from Wynton
  • Submit jobs to the queue system
  • Launch pipelines
  • Find available software modules and container resources
  • Build your own custom containers

Learning Path: This is an advanced workshop in the Computer Skills series. Prior experience with command line is required. See introductory workshop.

Visit the workshop site for more details and materials.
