UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice invite you to join us on Wednesday, July 26th at 12:00 PM for a discussion called “Unlocking Your Health Potential: Empowering Self-Advocacy for Holistic Well-being in Modern Medicine.” The talk will feature Qui-Jai “Jay” Johnson, local activist and Naturopathic Doctorate student.

Qui-Jai is an esteemed activist within the juvenile justice and foster system, championing improved quality and accountability in youth upbringing systems. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a Developmental Genetics and Race and Law background, Qui-Jai is pursuing a Naturopathic Doctorate while also working as a researcher, artist, and health coach. With a passion for restoring the healing capacity within individuals, Qui-Jai guides clients in reconnecting with traditional and ancient healing modalities. Through their expertise, they help individuals realign their spirits to facilitate profound physical healing.

Qui-Jai will speak about how it is crucial to address health inequities and disparities within our community and healthcare system. They will delve into how individuals can inform themselves to become proactive participants in their own healthcare, advocating for better outcomes and bridging the gaps caused by Western medicine and will emphasize the importance of holistic approaches to optimize overall well-being in body, mind, and spirit.

You can register for the talk here and learn more about Qui-Jai by clicking here. This lecture is free to attend but donations to Planting Justice are strongly encouraged.

This event was planned by a diverse group of UCSF staff who organized in response to the ongoing racial injustices. The goal of the UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice monthly speaker series is to promote critical thinking and action around intersectional structures of power, privilege, and racial oppression in clinical care, education, and beyond. We will continue to highlight the efforts of community antiracism activists.
