Salvatore Pablo Lucia Memorial Lectureship in Preventive Medicine
Uncorking the Controversy: Alcohol and Health
June Chan, ScD, will moderate a discussion with Meir Stampfer, MD, DrPH, and Gregory Marcus, MD, MAS, experts in cancer, cardiovascular, and nutritional epidemiology, medicine, cardiology, and public health. This session will take a deeper look at what we know and don’t know about the potential harms and benefits of alcohol on health, including cardiovascular disease and cancer.

About the Salvatore Pablo Lucia Distinguished Lecture Series:
Lydia Zablotska, MD, PhD, is Professor in Epidemiology & Biostatistics and the current holder of the Salvatore Pablo Lucia Chair in Preventive Medicine. Salvatore Pablo Lucia, MD (1901–1984), was a faculty member at UCSF for 53 years and was one of the University of California’s most distinguished physicians and medical educators. Lucia joined the UCSF faculty in 1932 and in 1956 became Chair of the newly created Department of Preventive Medicine, which became the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He published several books on wine and health.
