University of California San Francisco Give to UCSF

Please join us Wednesday, September 15, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. to kick off UCSF’s Community Connections event series!

UCSF Community Connections is a new panel series focused on the latest issues impacting San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, and provides the community a platform to engage directly with community leaders and UCSF experts.

The first event will focus on San Francisco's economic recovery, workforce development, and UCSF projects and initiatives that support these efforts. As San Francisco’s second largest employer and major contributor to the Bay Area economy, UCSF has remained a steadfast partner to the community in its unique opportunity to support local economic revitalization. Participants will hear from San Francisco’s municipal, community, and labor leaders discuss:

  • Strategies for economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic
  • UCSF’s community workforce agreement with the SF Building & Construction Trades Council for the new hospital at Parnassus Heights and the local union construction jobs that will be created
  • UCSF’s EXCEL program in partnership with Jewish Vocational Services to provide San Francisco residents enhanced access to UCSF employment opportunities
  • UCSF’s local hiring commitment as a part of the university's Community Construction Outreach Program with City Build and the SF Office of Economic & Workforce Development

Panelists include:

  • Rodney Fong, President & CEO, SF Chamber of Commerce
  • Rudy Gonzalez, Secretary-Treasurer, SF Building & Construction Trades Council
  • Lisa Countryman-Quiroz, Chief executive Officer, Jewish Vocational Services
  • Ken Nim, CityBuild Director, SF Office of Economic and Workforce Development
