Speaker bio: Marjorie Florestal is a former tenured professor at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and has also taught at the University of California, Berkeley, and UC Davis. Before transitioning to academia, she served as an international trade and development lawyer in the Clinton White House. Marjorie specializes in trauma-informed approaches to higher education, focusing on the intersection of law, psychology, and human development. She is the founder of Blackbird Trauma Training, a company dedicated to providing innovative strategies for addressing trauma on campuses, workplaces, and communities. Marjorie is the co-author of Trauma-Informed Law: A Primer for Practicing Lawyers and a Pathway for Resilience and Healing, published by the American Bar Association in 2023. She earned her JD from New York University School of Law and also holds a master’s degree in Jungian Psychology and is completing her PhD in Human Development.
