Esteemed Tibetan Buddhist lama Khenpo Paljor Gyatso will give instruction in the Tonglen practice, a simple meditation that can be practiced by anyone, anywhere, at any time, to transform suffering into love and compassion. This profound Buddhist practice allows practitioners to utilize the breath to transform suffering into compassion and develop warm-heartedness, cutting through the fear and grief we feel for those who suffer, including ourselves. There will be time for questions and answers before practicing Tonglen.

There is no cost for UCSF cancer patients and their families and friends to attend, but pre-registration is required, as seating is limited. Please RSVP on the Reimagine End of Life website. Use the code UCSF for free registration.

Note: This event will be translated into English via an interpreter. DVD aides and a support manual, “Instructions for the Transitional State,” will be available for purchase onsite.

This event is co-sponsored by the UCSF Cancer Resource Center and Transitional Life Care (TLC) non-profit organization, in collaboration with Reimagine End of Life, a citywide exploration of death and celebration of life through creativity and conversation.
