University of California San Francisco Give to UCSF

UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice invite you to join us on Wednesday, July 14th at 12:00 PM for a discussion called “The Impact of COVID-19 on Women” via Zoom. The talk will feature Mystique Chiles, MSW, MSOL, the Founder and Executive Director of Empowering Marginalized Women and Girls, Inc. (EMWG). Mystique’s EMWG colleagues, Darlene Cruz and Charlene Williams, will also be participating in the talk.

EMWG is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides women and girls with skill building, social engagement, HIV prevention, career development, mental support, and other wellness activities. It aids teens (ages 13-17) and women (ages 18 and up) who are overcoming stressors in their lives such as poverty, discrimination, abusive situations, addictions, unstable homes, and academic lives, by providing them with positive supportive services, education, social engagement, and Case Management services. EMWG was created in response to the ongoing health, educational, and economic disparities faced by women living in the Bronx, NYC.

You can register for the panel discussion here and learn more about Mystique and EMWG at EMWGonline.com.

This event was planned by a diverse group of UCSF staff who organized in response to the ongoing racial injustices. The goal of the UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice monthly speaker series is to promote critical thinking and action around intersectional structures of power, privilege, and racial oppression in clinical care, education, and beyond. We will continue to highlight the efforts of community antiracism activists.
