Part of the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) K12 Program's Career Development and Leadership Seminar Series that includes career development and leadership topics to help physician-scientists advance their careers. It's a 2-year curriculum with topics repeating every other year

  • Julie Ann Sosa, MD, MA, FACS, UCSF Chair and Professor, Department of Surgery
  • Susan Chang, MD, UCSFProfessor in Residence, Department of Neurological Surgery; Co-Leader, HDFCCC Neurologic Oncology Program; Director of Neuro-Oncology, UCSF Brain Tumor Center. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the role of service (in and outside of the university) in academic medicine 
  • Understand when to say “yes” and the art of saying “no” when it comes to service roles 
  • Review the value of networking and tips for connecting with colleagues, potential collaborators, and other contacts outside of your home institution
