University of California San Francisco Give to UCSF

UCSF Healthcare Through a Local Lens is a varied group of UCSF staff and faculty who share a mutual passion for improving care and access for those who need it most. As part of our work, we are excited to announce a new lecture series called Know & Grow.

The goal of this lecture series is to promote critical thinking and action around structures of power and societal advantages that impact healthcare, education, and beyond. This is the inaugural event of an ongoing series that will center on the work of local educators and leaders advocating for change in these areas. The series is also in support of everyone’s opportunity to learn and grow, in hopes that what is learned will positively influence the Adult Cancer Services’ belonging efforts.

This month’s speakers, M’ysha Gregory (she/her) and Joey Cordero (he/him), will present their talk “The Double-Edged Stethoscope: Physicians & Mandated Reporting” on September 23rd from 12-1pm.

M’ysha is a co-founder of The First Step to Healing Advocacy & Support Group, as well as a kinship caregiver, community organizer, and advocate for child welfare reform. She works to uplift families, dismantle systemic barriers, and reimagine child safety through love, healing, and community.

Joey is the author of the statewide curriculum “Working with Fathers in Child Welfare” and is the owner of Cordero Parenting Consulting Group where he provides direct services to parents and teens that are involved in the Child Welfare system.

UCSF welcomes people with disabilities to our events. To request a reasonable accommodation for this event, please email Lindsay.Williams@ucsf.edu as soon as possible.
