About this Event
This session is one of three options for Part 2 of the Teach for UCSF Certificate Program in Simulation Teaching. Standardized Patient-based Simulation is being held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 9:00-12:00noon - location TBD (in-person only).
This interactive workshop will engage learners in an evidence-based review of the benefits and challenges of Standardized Patient (SP)-based learning and assessment with a practical emphasis. We will explore use of SPs in curriculum as well as formative and summative assessment. Participants will work in small groups to apply skills to the design of an SP based activity, mapping the activity to objectives that each group identifies. We will end by considering and reflecting on the key best practices for developing and maintaining your SP program, including steps to promote equity and diversity.
