Project 1: 3D-CePham

Summary: Aims to integrate 3D mobile photogrammetry, 3D printing, and biocompatible materials to develop affordable, patient-specific ear molds. By using mobile scanning technology and advanced printing techniques, this project establishes a standardized workflow for creating customized, non-invasive molds. The approach enhances affordability, comfort, and accessibility compared to existing solutions, offering a more inclusive and effective option for pediatric patients.
Presented by the SJSU-UCSF Clinical Immersion Fellows: Anshika Jaiswal, Elyes Essanaa, and Tallah Modirzadeh

Project 2: Alumina Surface Property Characterization for iBAKs (implantable Bioartificial Kidneys)

Summary of Presentation:
Our team is focusing on using alumina as a potential coating on silicon nanopore membranes (SNMs) used in the implantable bioartificial kidney device (iBAK) being developed at UCSF. Biocompatibility of the SNMs is a critical parameter for iBAK function, and a coating on SNMs maintains the hemocompatibility necessary for effective use. This project is characterizing the surface properties of alumina for biocompatibility. Findings from this project will join a greater protein adhesion study to ultimately determine if alumina can serve as a viable coating within the iBAK.
