DESCRIPTION:Come together with the UCSF Black Womxn's Health & Livelihood I
 nitiative and Healing & Uniting Every Sista (HUES) as we explore the effec
 ts of HIV within Black communities. This event will include a session that
  provides insight into the impact of HIV on Black individuals and highligh
 ts how HUES and Black Brothers Esteem develop programs to cater to the nee
 ds of those living with or affected by HIV. Additionally\, there will be a
  panel discussion featuring community members and UCSF faculty\, delving i
 nto how their involvement influences and transforms programming. Lunch is 
 provided for folks who join us in-person.\n\nBlack communities have made g
 reat progress in reducing HIV. Yet racism\, discrimination\, and mistrust 
 in the health care system may affect whether Black people seek or receive 
 HIV prevention services. These issues may also reduce the likelihood of en
 gaging in HIV treatment and care. The National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Da
 y is an opportunity to increase HIV education\, testing\, community involv
 ement\, and treatment among Black communities.\n\nFirst observed on Februa
 ry 7\, 1999\, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day aims to acknowledge ho
 w HIV disproportionately affects Black communities.\n\nThere is limited ca
 pacity for in-person attendance. Please only register for in-person if you
  know for sure you can be present. Zoom details have been added for those 
 who would like to commune with us virtually.\n\nThe aim of this event is t
 o actively involve community members in discussions concerning HIV within 
 Black Communities. It seeks to offer foundational insights into the curren
 t landscape of community engagement for Black folks with underscored reaso
 ns for HIV education\, prevention\, and treatment. This initiative seeks t
 o provide community members with the chance to enhance their understanding
  of their proximity to their own HIV risk and what support exists in the c
 ommunity for people who’d like to explore community engagement.\n\nUCSF 
 Black Women's Health & Livelihood Initiative envisions a world where Black
  women are valued and nurtured in the same way that Black women care for o
 thers. We prioritize and amplify the voice and power of Black women\, at U
 CSF and beyond\, to achieve their optimal health and well-being.\n\nSan Fr
 ancisco AIDS Foundation promotes health\, wellness\, and social justice fo
 r communities most impacted by HIV\, through sexual health and substance u
 se services\, advocacy\, and community partnerships.\n\nReserve your spot
