What: Introduction to Structured TEACCHing Principles: Incorporating Schedules and Work Systems into Every Day Life and School Programs for School Age Children

About: Structured TEACCHing is a program developed by TEACCH at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Structured TEACChing is an array of teaching principles and strategies based on learning characteristics and social communication abilities associated with ASD. It is a framework within which educational and therapeutic goals can be achieved and includes the following: Physical organization, individualized schedules, work systems, and visual structure of materials. This presentation will introduce the audience to the principles of the intervention and identify ways that the strategies can be incorporated into the lives of school age children with ASD.

Speaker bio: Dr. Ence is a licensed psychologist, board certified behavior analyst (BCBA), and the Director of Clinical Services at the STAR Center for ASD and NDDs at UCSF. She specializes in evidence-based behavioral treatments and assessment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and neurodevelopmental disorders. She has advanced training in Applied Behavior Analysis, Pivotal Response Training, Structured TEACChing, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Her research interests include investigating comprehensive behavioral interventions for ASDs and evaluating best practices in parent training.
