What is the SFMTA Active Communities (Bicycle) Plan and how will it affect micro-mobility commutes to and around Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mt. Zion campuses?

  • 51% of SF residents enjoy biking. Just 15% do not.
  • 1/3 of residents can bike, but won't in San Francisco.
  • 7 in 10 people cite safety concerns as a major impact on their decision to bike.
  • 59% believe that bike lanes and paths should be separated from cars.
  • More than 10,000 learners, staff, and faculty (about 43 percent of the total campus population) live within five miles, or a 30- to 40-minute ride on a standard bike, of UCSF’s main campuses (Parnassus Heights, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion).

Christopher Kidd, Transportation Planner from SFMTA,  will present the Plan and share their vision of safer streets for bike commuters. Bring your questions.

From SFMTA: "The San Francisco Active Communities Plan (ACP) is a 2-year planning process to develop a new plan for active mobility in San Francisco.

The new plan directs SFMTA's future investments in the active transportation network, support facilities, programs, and policies for the next 10-15 years. This new planning effort includes all devices that can legally use the active transportation network and elevates the voices and needs of equity-priority communities.

There are plenty of ways to get involved with the Active Communities Plan. The Active Communities Plan Survey is open through July 31st."
