DESCRIPTION:🚲🚨 New Study Alert! 🚨🚲\n\nhttps://ucsfh.org/4fgRc3K - More and
more Americans are commuting on electric bikes and e-scooters\, but recent
findings show a concerning rise in injuries. A team led by Dr. Adrian Ferna
ndez from UCSF discovered that e-bike injuries doubled each year from 2017
 to 2022\, with a similar 45% increase in e-scooter injuries. \n\nDate: Thur
 sday\, August 29th.\nTime 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PST.\nZoom Registration - http
s://tiny.ucsf.edu/kzz1ct\n\nThese numbers underscore the urgent need for ad
 ded safety measures. E-bikes and e-scooters are eco-friendly\, cost-effecti
ve\, and can reach speeds of up to 28 mph\, making them a popular\, cost-ef
fective and envrionmental choice for getting around. But there's a downside
: crashes. The study\, published in JAMA Network Open\, used data from the
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s National Electronic Injury Survei
 llance System\, revealing a spike from 751 e-bike injuries in 2017 to 23\,4
93 in 2022. E-scooter injuries rose from 8\,566 to 56\,847 in the same peri
 od.\n\nCo-first author Kevin Li\, a UCSF medical student\, highlights the c
oncerning trend of lower helmet usage among electric vehicle users and a la
ck of critical bike infrastructure.\n\nU.S. News and World Report - https:/
