Dear Residents and Fellows,

Apply to be a GME Peer Support Ambassador!

The Office of Graduate Medical Education is sponsoring its fourth cohort of the GME-wide Peer Support Ambassador Program for next academic year. 

The UCSF GME Peer Support Ambassador (PSA) program will train up to 12 residents and fellows who will support fellow trainees to navigate distress and enhance their well-being in the clinical and learning environment. Peer Support Ambassadors (PSAs) will receive training in peer support skills, principles of trauma-informed care and restorative inquiry, and education about additional campus resources.

Peer Support Ambassador commitments:

• Attend three required 2.5-hour training sessions in July, August, and September 2026. The PSA leadership team will work with programs to release time for the sessions, which will be in the late afternoon.
  
• Provide peer support September 2026-end of June 2027. PSAs will provide support informally within their own programs, and may occasionally (less than once a month) be formally asked to provide support through a referral from OGME or the Caring for the Caregiver Program.
  
• Co-teach at one general skills training session for other residents/fellows with PSA program faculty between October 2026 and end of June 2027.
  
• Join quarterly PSA check-ins from December-June as schedule permits.

PSAs will receive a one-time stipend of $1000 for training and participation in the program.

Interested applicants should:

• submit a one-paragraph statement of interest using this link by March 27, 2026. 
• notify their program director that they are applying to ensure adequate time to prepare for potential schedule modifications

The 2026-2027 PSA cohort will be selected and notified in mid-April.
