The UCSF Oral, Head & Neck Cancer Research Group presents:

Speaker: Matthew Spitzer, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at UCSF

Talk Title: Spatially Organized T Cell Responses Distinguish Oral Dysplasias that Progress to Cancer

Description: The factors that determine which oral premalignant lesions progress to cancer while others do not remain unclear. Immune responses to early lesions result in cancer immunoediting, so variability in anti-tumor immunity may influence risk of cancer progression. Here we show that strong T cell-mediated immune responses distinguish premalignant dysplasias in the oral cavity that progressed to invasive cancer from those that did not progress.
