The Gladstone Institutes Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize

On November 16, 2017, at the Gladstone Institutes, the 2017 Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize winner will give a scientific lecture and be presented with the award. Space will be limited to the first 150 Gladstone or UCSF community members.

The 2017 winner is Lorenz Studer, the director of the Center for Stem Cell Biology and member of the Developmental Biology Program at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Studer was selected for his transformative contributions to the field of cellular reprogramming and the application of human induced pluripotent stem cells to disease modeling. His groundbreaking research has advanced the therapeutic potential of stem cell-based therapies in Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders.

The ceremony will also be available worldwide via live webcast. Register in advance to watch the live stream.

The Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize recognizes individuals whose original translational research has advanced cellular reprogramming technology for regenerative medicine. The prize was established in 2015 through a generous gift from Hiro and Betty Ogawa and is supported by the Gladstone Institutes. The awardee(s) receives an unrestricted prize of $150,000 USD.

The Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell awardee(s) will be honored during an event hosted by the Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco, California. This event includes a brief ceremony followed by the awardee(s) presentation of their prize-winning research.
