Networking Using Social Media - In Collaboration with PLS

Do you have a LinkedIn account but not sure how to connect with professionals in your field? Are you curious about other online networking tools out there? If so, this workshop is for you!

This workshop will discuss strategies on how to use LinkedIn to network more effectively, and introduce you to UCSF Connect (, UCSF’s official networking platform. 

Learning Outcomes:

 By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Define networking and articulate your goals
  • Identify various social media platforms that are commonly used for networking 
  • Recognize various methods to find and approach professionals in your field using social media
  • Identify strategies to use social media effectively while networking 


Please Note:

Snacks will be provided but feel free to bring your own lunch; please register in advance.

It is recommended that you create a LinkedIn ( and UCSF Connect ( account prior to the program. 

During the program, we will be using LinkedIn and UCSF Connect, so please bring a laptop/mobile device to the presentation.

The session is geared towards pharmacy students, but current and former UCSF students and postdocs are welcome to attend. 

*** This workshop is in collaboration with Phi Lambda Sigma's Beta Beta Chapter (PLS) at the UCSF School of Pharmacy.  Due to the collaboration, we be sharing this registration list with student leaders of PLS as they are required to track attendance for their programs. We will also be sharing the registration list for this event with the UCSF School of Pharmacy, as pharmacy students obtain co-curricular credit for attending this event.
