Michael Peluso is an Infectious Diseases Fellow whose interests include HIV persistence and compartmentalization (including in the central nervous system) and understanding individuals with unique phenotypic characteristics biologically and immunologically (such as controllers). 

Dr Peluso served his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after his medical training at Yale University. Prior to medical training, he interned at Bwindi Community Health Centre in Uganda. During training, he served as Student Coordinator for Global Health at Yale, and has pursued an interest in the ethics and curriculum in global health training. 

The Young Investigators in International Research interest group is led by Gabriel Chamie in the Division of HIV/AIDS at SFGH. This conference- styled group was initiated in 2008 to convene UCSF junior investigators who share an interest in international research to discuss research ideas, challenges, and works-in-progress.  The group meets monthly 8-9am at ZSFG.  The event offers an informal opportunity to present and discuss research proposals and ideas with young investigators as well as senior advisors.
Topics for discussion are flexible, and can include:
      - new ideas for future research
      - ongoing project development
      - analysis of data that has already been collected ("work-in-progress"), etc;
