Workshop leaders will present a framework for recognizing microaggressions and share intervention strategies that promote allyship. We recognize that we all bring our life experiences to our teaching, education and clinical work. With this in mind, we will examine power dynamics and the multiple levels - intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, community and policy â at which microaggressions can be addressed in the learning environment.
During this workshop, participants will use tools to increase awareness of the dynamics in the learning environment, create an open space to talk about microaggressions, and examine the systems and structures that perpetuate microaggressions.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify multiple levels of bias and microaggressions in the learning and clinical environments
Acknowledge and critique power differentials in education settings and the work environment
Employ allyship techniques to address bias and microaggressions in the learning environment and beyond
UCSF is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
