  • An overview of how the US Supreme Court has viewed the meaning of the 14th Amendment's guarantee of equality under law since the Amendment's adoption;
  • How does the US interpretation conflict with modern human rights perspectives?
  • What are the implications of the Supreme Court's decisions for the struggle for racial and gender equality since Brown v. Board of Education?
  • What are the effects of these decisions on racial inequities in areas such as health, education, criminal justice?
