 e group\, have you ever caught members of your audience\, or even yourself\
 , starting to nod off? Large group teaching (a.k.a. lecturing) does not hav
 e to be so sedating. This workshop provides faculty with the techniques and
  skills needed to prepare and deliver stimulating and effective presentatio
 ns.\n\nAdvance Preparation:\nParticipants must come prepared with a ten-min
 ute presentation\, either new or old\, to deliver in front of a small group
  during the workshop.\n\nThe first half of the workshop will focus on pract
 ical tips for improving professional presentations\, including:\n\nIntroduc
 ing the topic and gaining audience attention.\nOrganizing the presentation 
 effectively.\nDiscuss options for using new and old technology in the large
  group setting.\nActively involving participants and motivating learning.\n
 Concluding the presentation in a powerful manner.\n\nDuring the second half
  of the workshop\, participants will implement workshop suggestions in a mi
 cro-teaching situation that involves giving and receiving feedback.\n\nAt t
 he end of this session\, participants will be able to:\n\nOutline approache
 s to the planning and delivery of dynamic presentations.\nDescribe 3-4 tech
 niques for engaging learners.\nProvide constructive feedback to a colleague
  about their presentation.\nSet personal goals for applying the skills lear
 ned in this workshop to one's own practice setting\, and review a tool desi
 gned to assess performance of new teaching skills.\n\n \n\nUCSF is accredit
 ed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide
  continuing medical education for physicians.\n\nUCSF designates this live 
 activity for a maximum of 277 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians shoul
 d claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation
  in the activity.\n\nThe above credit is inclusive of all UCSF Educational 
 Skills Workshops and the Teaching Scholars Program. Credit available for th
 is event only is 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.\n\nFor the purpose of recer
 tification\, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Categ
 ory 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.\n\nThe Calif
 ornia Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those 
 courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have b
 een approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.\n\nUCSF Educational Skills Wor
