Job Talk: A transdisciplinary journey through maternal health research, advocacy and policy

An overview of the research and critical policy analyses I have conducted in maternal health, particularly around maternal mortality and morbidity, maternity care experiences, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, and racial inequities in maternal outcomes.  I examine how maternity stakeholders (clinicians, childbearing persons, birth advocates, payers (private and public), government entities, quality organizations and hospitals) act to understand and influence maternal health care delivery and policy in the United States.  The central theme of much of my work is to expand the concept of “care” as it relates to maternity care experience and policy.
