In this pop-up we will introduce you to one of the most widely used stitches in sewing, the running stitch. This simple straight stitch can be used to create anything from a pillow to a mask. We’ll introduce you to some basic sewing tools, show you how to sew a running stitch by hand, and with a machine and suggest projects ideas.

Since the Makers Lab is closed, we are unable to provide supplies for the pop-up. Please have needle, thread, scissors, tape measure or ruler, and  ½-1+ yard of fabric depending on what project you choose. Small throw pillows and masks can be made with under a yard of fabric. Tight weave cotton is best for masks. Cotton or cotton blends or polyester blends will work well for pillows. Here are a few local businesses you can support if you need supplies: Mendel’s, Piedmont Fabrics, Cliff’s.
