Movement, Breath and Psyche: Yoga and Other Mind-Body Therapies for Treating Major Depression

Learning objectives:

  • To summarize some key limitations of conventional treatments for major depression, including remission rates;
  • To identify methodological challenges in designing clinical trials of mind-body therapies for major depression;
  • To describe at least two mind-body therapies with findings of moderate efficacy in major depression;
  • To compare the study population, control group and results of the Osher RCT of yoga for major depression with previous yoga studies in the literature.
