The patient; Louise Aronson, MD; Christopher Gilbert, PhD; and Wolf Mehling, MD, will participate in a panel  on "Clinical Perspectives of an Integrative Health Case: The Retired Urologist with Chronic Pain."

Louise Aronson, MD, is a geriatrician, writer, educator, and professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the author of the New York Times bestseller Elderhood: Redefining Aging, Transforming Medicine, and Reimagining Life. A graduate of Harvard Medical School and the Warren Wilson Program for Writers, Dr. Aronson has received the Gold Professorship in Humanism in Medicine, the California Homecare Physician of the Year award, and the American Geriatrics Society Clinician-Teacher of the Year award. Her writing appears in publications including The New York TimesWashington PostDiscover Magazine, and the New England Journal of Medicine and has earned her four Pushcart nominations, the Sonora Review Prize, and a MacDowell fellowship. Her work has been featured on CBS This Morning, NPR’s Fresh Air, Politico, LitHub, Kaiser Health News, and Tech Nation.

Christopher Gilbert, PhD, has worked in the field of biofeedback since 1975, helping patients dealing with a variety of physical and psychological issues including anxiety and chronic pain. Prior to joining the Osher Center, he worked at the Chronic Pain Program at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco for 15 years, where he used a variety of modalities of biofeedback, as well as imagery and hypnosis to teach self-regulation to chronic pain patients. Before that, he was in private practice in New Jersey for several years and also taught at Ramapo College.

Wolf Mehling, MD, is an Integrative Physician and Core Research Faculty at the Osher Center. He has been treating chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions with integrated manual therapy and mind-body approaches for over 40 years and has conducted research on low back pain, integrated exercise interventions, and interoceptive bodily awareness.
