Alison Comfort PhD, is a health economist whose research focuses on better understanding the role of health technologies, specifically pregnancy tests, in improving reproductive and maternal health outcomes and assessing the role of price and other factors to influence uptake of health products, such as contraceptives and anti-malarial bed nets. Dr Comfort is an Assistant Researcher, Dept of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, UCSF School of Medicine.

The Young Investigators in International Research group is a conference- styled group to convene UCSF junior investigators who share an interest in international research to discuss research ideas, challenges, and works-in-progress. It is led Bt Dr Gabe Chamie, and supported in the Division of HIV, AIDS, and Global Medicine.
