About this Event
UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice invite you to join us on Tuesday, September 24th at 3PM for a discussion called “Incarceration to Integration: The Frontlines of Health in Correctional Facilities and Re-entry.” The talk will feature Drs. Alison Pachynski and Shira Shavit.
Dr. Pachynski is the Chief Medical Executive at San Quentin State Prison and is passionate about ensuring the prison’s residents receive excellent medical care and determined to ensure institutions are healthy environments for residents and staff. Dr. Shavit is a Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF and has been redefining national best practices to address the health inequities experienced by communities impacted by mass incarceration
You can register for the talk here and learn more about Dr. Pachynski here and Dr. Shavit here. This lecture is free to attend but donations to the Transitions Clinic Network are strongly encouraged.
This event was planned by a diverse group of UCSF staff who organized in response to the ongoing racial injustices. The goal of the UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice monthly speaker series is to promote critical thinking and action around intersectional structures of power, privilege, and racial oppression in clinical care, education, and beyond. We will continue to highlight the efforts of community antiracism activists.
