Women's status and reproductive and maternal health in South Asia: recent findings and new projects

Dr Diamond-Smith will talk about findings from a study about women's status, nutrition, and reproductive health among newly married women in Nepal, including findings from a household level norm intervention. She will then discuss three recently funded R01s on maternal and reproductive health in India.

Nadia Diamond-Smith is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatics and Institute for Global health Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She studies the intersection between women’s empowerment and reproductive and maternal health, mostly in South Asia. She is interested in how women's status in their homes and communities impacts their health across their lifecourse, and how to design and evaluate interventions that can improve women's health and lives more broadly.
