The HEAR Justice Pathway would like to invite all GME trainees to join the Community of Praxis session on Thursday, 12/11/25, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm via Zoom with guest speaker Taylor Nicols, MD, to discuss justice, advocacy, and addiction medicine.

Dr. Taylor Nichols is a board-certified physician in both emergency medicine and addiction medicine and a nationally recognized voice in health policy and patient advocacy with a deep commitment to health equity and systems-level change. His advocacy work was recently recognized by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) as the recipient of the Policy Pioneer Award. 

He completed his undergraduate degree in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Michigan before pursuing medical school at UC Davis School of Medicine. He subsequently completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at UCSF-San Francisco General Hospital and fellowship training in Health Policy and Advocacy at UC Davis Medical Center. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health policy and law through a combined program between UCSF and UC Law SF.

In his roles in addiction medicine, Dr. Nichols serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Transitions Addiction Medicine Group, as the Medical Director of Transitions Clinic of Sacramento, and as an Implementation Leader with CA Bridge. He recently stepped into the role of Chief Medical Officer for the national digital care platform VocalMD. He also serves as Volunteer Clinical Faculty at UC Davis Medical Center, Medical Director of the non-profit Recovery Reform, and Director of Strategic Initiatives with Sacramento Street Medicine.
