About the Speakers:
Francis Wright is a fourth-year medical student at UCSF, where he has been involved in genomic immunology research, health equity leadership, and PPE distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is currently studying immune-related adverse events due to checkpoint inhibitors with Dr. Sam Brondfield and Dr. Zoe Quandt.
Dr. Sam Brondfield, MD, MAEd, is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Div. of Hematology/Oncology. He works as a hospital-based oncologist, attending on the solid tumor consult service as well as the hospital medicine teaching service. His mission is to educate generalists and trainees in solid oncology. His research focuses on cognitive load, subspecialty training, inpatient consultation, and immune-related adverse events due to checkpoint inhibitors.
Dr. Julie Ann Sosa is the Leon Goldman MD Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Chair of the Dept of Surgery; Professor in the Dept of Medicine and affiliated faculty for the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. Her clinical interest is in endocrine surgery, with a focus in thyroid cancer. She is an NIH-and FDA-funded investigator and author of nearly 400 peer-reviewed publications and 80 book chapters and reviews, all largely focused on outcomes research, health care delivery, hyperparathyroidism, and thyroid cancer, with a focus on clinical trials.
