Workshop leaders will present a framework for recognizing microaggressions and share intervention strategies that promote allyship. We recognize that we all bring our life experiences to our teaching, education, and clinical work. With this in mind, we will examine power dynamics and the multiple levels - intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, community and policy – at which microaggressions can be addressed in the learning environment.
During this workshop, participants will use tools to increase awareness of the dynamics in the learning environment, create an open space to talk about microaggressions, and examine the systems and structures that perpetuate microaggressions.
