This traveling banner exhibition by the National Library of Medicine explores an emerging genre of medical literature that combines the art of comics and personal illness narratives. Patients, healthcare providers and their loved ones have told stories about illness from their perspective using many creative mediums. The author’s viewpoint balances the external, clinical realities of medical symptoms and diagnoses. Additionally, graphic medicine can be a source of comfort for patients who share similar health issues, and offer another avenue for sharing information.
Graphic Medicine: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn! is a FREE self-guided exhibit.
The exhibition is on display weekdays from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. from February 3 - March 13, 2025. A valid UCSF ID badge is required to enter the Kalmanovitz Library.
UCSF welcomes everyone, including people with disabilities to our events and exhibits. To request a reasonable accommodation for this event, please contact Sarah McClung by emailing sarah.mcclung@ucsf.edu as soon as possible.
