Fatima Barragan, MD is a multicultural, bilingual physician specializing in pediatric integrative medicine, wellness, and integrative neurodevelopmental pediatrics including ADHD and autism. She completed residency training at UCSF, followed by a Pediatric Integrative Medicine Fellowship at Stanford University in collaboration with the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Barragan is a champion of wellness equity with a focus on increasing access to integrative medicine. Dr. Barragan's impact is tangible as she has founded two Integrative Medicine Clinics within distinct community hospitals, including Clinica Buena Vida at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

As an integrative pediatrician, Dr. Barragan treats a wide range of pediatric patients by combining conventional medical treatments with evidence-based complementary therapies. She helps manage chronic conditions like anxiety, ADHD, asthma, mild to moderate depression, endometriosis, and IBD by offering a holistic approach that addresses multi-system diseases. Dr. Barragan assists children using therapies such as mindfulness, medical hypnosis, yoga, acupressure, and auricular therapy. Additionally, she supports children recovering from illnesses with integrative strategies that include herbal medicine and acupuncture. Dr. Barragan enjoys working with families seeking preventive care, focusing on long-term wellness through nutrition counseling, lifestyle changes, and stress management.

At the end of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the unique challenges faced by underserved pediatric populations seeking integrative medicine.
  • Understand the impact of immigration policies on the health and well-being of immigrant children and families.
  • Identify strategies to mitigate healthcare barriers and improve access for underserved and immigrant families.
