“Child Protective Services and the Medical Professional: Engaging and Supporting Families to Increase Child Safety”

Planners expect learners to:

1. Describe Child Welfare Services’ processes of decision making from receiving a call on the child abuse hotline to closure of an investigation or case.

2. Define what is within and outside the scope of the child welfare system.

3. Examine the updated CA laws around reporting General Neglect, AB 2085, and ways to support families when community level intervention is in alignment with that law.

4. Recognize “gaze aversion” and its impact on reporting child abuse.

UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

For CME credit, online evaluations must be completed by 12pm on the Friday after Grand Rounds.  Requests for the link to the current evaluation must be sent to Cristina.Fernandez@ucsf.edu by NOON on the day of Grand Rounds.

 

ABP MOC PART 2 POINTS

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1 MOC point in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. ABS Continuous Certification (CC)
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 1 credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery's Continuous Certification program.
