University of California San Francisco Give to UCSF

UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice invite you to join us on Tuesday, April 11th at 12:00 PM for a discussion called “From Chronic Illness to Inspiration.” The talk will feature disability advocate, fashion designer, business owner, and podcaster, Keisha Greaves.

Keisha is the founder of Girls Chronically Rock and has always been passionate about fashion. Born and raised in Cambridge, MA, Keisha has a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising, as well as an MBA. At age 24, she was diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, and her life changed. But far from being bogged down by it, Keisha decided to not only embrace it but to celebrate Muscular Dystrophy and other chronic illnesses, giving life to her dream of staring a fashion line. Today, Keisha is a motivational speaker who talks about spreading awareness of Muscular Dystrophy and other chronic illnesses, balancing life with chronic illness, raising money for causes, advocating for disability, and other related topics. Keisha has been featured in several media outlets like Good Morning America, The Today Show, and ABC News.

You can register for the talk here and learn more about Keisha Greaves by visiting her website: girlschronicallyrock.com. This lecture is free to attend but donations to the GCR Adaptive Project are strongly encouraged.

This event was planned by a diverse group of UCSF staff who organized in response to the ongoing racial injustices. The goal of the UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice monthly speaker series is to promote critical thinking and action around intersectional structures of power, privilege, and racial oppression in clinical care, education, and beyond. We will continue to highlight the efforts of community antiracism activists.
