A Conversation with Mia Williams, MD, Assistant Clinical Professor, Division of General Internal Medicine
During this informal discussion Dr. Williams will share her thoughts and experiences on the power of sponsorship for career advancement and how to be an effective sponsor or sponsee. The discussion will rely heavily on audience participation – so please bring your questions.
Some topics to be discussed include:
Reflect on the power of sponsorship on career advancement
Discuss how experiences of sponsorship impact faculty experience
Contemplate sponsorship’s power for improving equity
Dr. Williams is an internal medicine physician specializing in primary care.
She is the assistant program director for the UC–Primary Care Internal
Medicine Residency, works in the UCSF School of Medicine Anti-Oppressive Curriculum Initiative, and her research includes work in career sponsorship in academic healthcare. Dr. Williams also serves as Chair of the School of Medicine Faculty Council.
