DESCRIPTION:Dr Shweta Bansal is a Provost's Distinguished Associate Profess
 or at Georgetown University's Department of Biology. Before joining George
 town University in 2012\, she completed a RAPIDD postdoctoral fellowship a
 t the CIDD at Penn State University and the Fogarty International Center a
 t NIH\, under the mentorship of Professor Bryan Grenfell and Dr. Ellis McK
 enzie. She completed her Ph.D in 2008 in network modeling and infectious d
 isease ecology at the University of Texas at Austin and was advised by Pro
 fessor Lauren Ancel Meyers. I was a NASA-Jenkins Fellow during this time.\
 n\nDr Bansal (pronounced Shway-ta Bun-sel) received a Masters degree in 20
 04 in Computational and Applied Mathematics (now known as the CSEM Program
 ) from UT Austin\, and a bachelors degree in 2002 in Mathematics and Compu
 ter Science from Santa Clara University.\n\nJoin the EPPIcenter online in 
 welcoming Dr Bansal\n\nThe EPPIcenter at UCSF aims to advance the understa
 nding of infectious diseases to reduce global morbidity and mortality. We 
 believe that the greatest success in the fight against infectious diseases
  will come through a highly interdisciplinary\, systems epidemiology appro
 ach\, connecting traditionally siloed theoretical work\, technology develo
 pment\, generation and collection of empiric data\, and analysis using sta
