This interactive workshop, led by Sandrijn Vanschaik, MD, PhD, Director of Faculty Development of the Learning and Caring Environment, and Kevin Souza, MS, Assoc. Dean, SOM Medical Education, aims to help staff enhance their understanding of effective leadership and augment their own leadership skills. In the first part of the workshop, participants will examine their own leadership style, and how this impacts work with others. The second part will focus on skill building around a variety of topics, including team member engagement and meeting management.

This workshop will be held again at the Parnassus campus on December 10. The December 10 event event requires a separate registration (forthcoming) if you are unable to attend the Mission Bay event.

This workshop grew out of the Dean’s Strategic Plan Charter: https://medschool.ucsf.edu/strategicplan. Our committee was given the task of focusing on investigating existing and to pilot new opportunities for staff working in education to build skills, develop community and be recognized for excellent work. Our aim is to both enhance community and development opportunities for School of Medicine staff who work with our learners. Our learners include medical students, residents, post-docs/fellows, Master’s and PhD students, and any individual actively engaged in any one of our many training and educational programs within UCSF. We serve those staff who work with and support any learners within the School of Medicine. Staff include (but not limited to): Health Education professionals/superviors/managers, Graduate Program and Graduate Medical Education administrators, Fellowship Program administrators, Student Affairs, Instructional Technologists, etc.

This is event is for School of Medicine staff only. Questions?: Please contact Clair Dunne at clair.dunne@ucsf.edu.
