 ural Intersectional Disability Lecture for ODO's Diversity Month. In this 
 lecture\, critical disability studies scholar-activist\, Dr. Sara María A
 cevedo\, discusses disability culture and identity\, language\, and the im
 portance of using a Disability Justice framework to reimagine our approach

 ara María Acevedo:\n\nDr. Sara María Acevedo is an Autistic Colombian-bo
 rn scholar-activist and critical educator. Her research is committed to an
 ti-colonial\, anti-racist\, and anti-ableist praxis\, and is informed by t
 ransnational feminism\, the study of subjugated knowledges\, and posthuman
 ism\, among others. She is an Assistant Professor of disability studies at
  Miami University\, where she advances Disability Justice in the classroom
  and across campus. Her work as an educator blends critical pedagogy\, res
 earch\, and activism\, building on the knowledge of historically marginali
 zed communities. Sara has received numerous recognitions for her community
 -based work and transnational contributions to the Neurodiversity Movement
 . She is currently leading a research project on neurodivergent culture\, 
 activism\, and autonomous forms of governance funded by the Ford Foundatio
 n’s Disability Rights Program.    \n\nSara currently serves as a D
 istinguished Visiting Scholar at the University of Buffalo\, where she wil
 l share her critical disability studies expertise with the UB community al
 ong a cohort of talented scholars\, artists\, and community practitioners 
 working to create more sustainable\, fair\, and socially just futures for 
 all. Sara served a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Societ
 y for Disability Studies\; her leadership was instrumental in developing t
 he organization’s fifteen guiding principles. She serves on the Editoria
 l Boards of Disability and the Global South and Ought: The Journal of Auti
 stic Culture.   \n\n \n\nThis program is co-presented by: \n\nOffice o
 f Diversity and Outreach (ODO) Disability Resource Center (DRC) \n\nThe UC
 SF Office of Disability Access and Inclusion (ODAI) aims to ensure an acce
 ssible and inclusive environment for people with disabilities to work\, le
 arn\, visit\, and receive healthcare at UCSF. ODAI provides a dedicated Di
 sability Resource Center (DRC) for disabled staff\, faculty\, and learners
  and their allies to learn about disability identity\, culture\, and pride
  at UCSF. We offer a variety of programs and events that promote an inters
 ectional and social justice perspective on disability. \n\nOffice of Diver
 sity and Outreach (ODO) Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) \n\nRooted in 
 social justice\, the Multicultural Resource Center aims to nurture our div
 erse community. We are committed to shaping physical and intellectual envi
 ronments that honor the experiences of all members of UCSF. Through progra
 mmatic efforts in community building\, education\, student support\, and s
 ocial justice we aspire to achieve transformational change.
