DESCRIPTION:SESSION 2 OF 2 (Pre-Req Session 1)\n\nMost of us are not traine
 d in how to handle bias and discrimination in the learning environment. Whe
 n bias occurs\, we don’t feel comfortable addressing it. Learners have comp
 lained that these issues are not being addressed appropriately and that it 
 negatively impacts their learning. As part of the UCSF School of Medicine D
 ifferences Matter initiative\, the goal of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusi
 on Champion training is to increase awareness and skills for clinical teach
 ers\, staff\, and others who work with our learners\, so you can better add
 ress bias and discrimination when and where it happens.\n\nAt the end of th
 is training\, participants will be able to:\n\nrecognize bias and discrimin
 ation in the learning environment\;use a shared language to talk about bias
  and discrimination with learners\;implement skills to address bias and dis
 crimination\; andapply practical tools for addressing bias and discriminati
 on in your day to day teaching encounters.During this training\, participan
 ts will:\n\napply new skills in a variety of case-based scenarios in small 
 breakout groups.participate in an assessment of awareness\, comfort and con
 fidence using the skills learned.Technology Requirements\n\nA laptop or des
 ktop computer with a video camera to participate in a Zoom format.\n\n \n\n
 *We have revamped the Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion Champion training to
  meet our need to physically distance\, but still personally connect. The r
 evamped training will still bring you the same content as the in-person tra
 ining\, via an online virtual format divided in 3 parts. The parts MUST be 
 completed in order.\n\nPre-Work = Task #1: Videos/Reflection Task#2: Pre-Co
 urse Survey. Time: 30-40 minutes.\n\nSession 1 via Zoom with a group of fac
 ulty and staff from cross campus. Time: 3 hours.\n\nSession 2 via Zoom with
  a group of faculty and staff from cross campus. Time: 3 hours.\n\n \n\nSch
 eduling Note: Sessions 1 and 2 are offered separately but it must be done i
 n consecutive order. The sessions also involve a lot of interactive small g
 roup work so please fully commit to a time for both parts 1 and 2.\n\n(Part
 icipants will receive the Pre-Work 2 weeks prior to the training and the Zo
 om info 2 days prior to their confirmed training).\n\nAfter completing Sess
 ion 2\, you will be listed on the Differences Matter website as one of our 
 DEI Champions.\n\n******\n\nUCSF is accredited by the Accreditation Council
  for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education f
 or physicians.\n\nUCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 7 AMA
  PRA Category 1 Credits™ (upon completion of Session 2). Physicians should 
 claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation i
 n the activity.\n\nFor the purpose of recertification\, the American Nurses
  Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organiza
 tions accredited by the ACCME.\n\nThe California Board of Pharmacy accepts 
 as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard o
 f relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA Categor
 y 1 Credit™.
