DESCRIPTION:SESSION 1 OF 2\n\nMost of us are not trained in how to handle b
 ias and discrimination in the learning environment. When bias occurs\, we 
 don’t feel comfortable addressing it. Learners have complained that thes
 e issues are not being addressed appropriately and that it negatively impa
 cts their learning. As part of the UCSF School of Medicine Differences Mat
 ter initiative\, the goal of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Champion t
 raining is to increase awareness and skills for clinical teachers\, staff\
 , and others who work with our learners\, so you can better address bias a
 nd discrimination when and where it happens.\n\nAt the end of this trainin
 g\, participants will be able to:\n\nrecognize bias and discrimination in 
 the learning environment\;use a shared language to talk about bias and dis
 crimination with learners\;implement skills to address bias and discrimina
 tion\, andapply practical tools for addressing bias and discrimination in 
 your day-to-day teaching encounters.During this training\, participants wi
 ll:\n\napply new skills in a variety of case-based scenarios in small brea
 kout groups.participate in an assessment of awareness\, comfort\, and conf
 idence using the skills learned.Technology Requirements\n\nA laptop or des
 ktop computer with a video camera to participate in a Zoom format.\n\n \n\
 n*We have revamped the Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Champion trainin
 g to meet our need to physically distance\, but still personally connect. 
 The revamped training will still bring you the same content as the in-pers
 on training\, via an online virtual format divided into 3 parts. The parts
  MUST be completed in order.\n\nPre-Work = Task #1: Videos/Reflection Task
 #2: Pre-Course Survey. Time: 30-40 minutes.\n\nSession 1 via Zoom with a g
 roup of faculty and staff from cross-campus. Time: 3 hours.\n\nSession 2 v
 ia Zoom with a group of faculty and staff from cross-campus. Time: 3 hours
 .\n\n \n\nScheduling Note: Sessions 1 and 2 are offered separately but the
 y must be done in consecutive order. The sessions also involve a lot of in
 teractive small group work so please fully commit to a time for both parts
  1 and 2.\n\n(Participants will receive the Pre-Work 2 weeks prior to the 
 training and the Zoom info 2 days prior to their confirmed training).\n\nA
 fter completing Session 2\, you will be listed on the Differences Matter w
 ebsite as one of our DEI Champions.\n\n******\n\nUCSF is accredited by the
  Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continu
 ing medical education for physicians.\n\nUCSF designates this live activit
 y for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (upon completion of Ses
 sion 2). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the ext
 ent of their participation in the activity.\n\nFor the purpose of recertif
 ication\, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Categor
 y 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.\n\nThe Cali
 fornia Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education thos
 e courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and hav
 e been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
