DESCRIPTION:SESSION 1 OF 2\n\nMost of us are not trained in how to handle b
 ias and discrimination in the learning environment. When bias occurs\, we 
 don't feel comfortable addressing it. Learners have complained that these 
 issues are not being addressed appropriately\, and that it negatively impa
 cts their learning. As part of the Differences Matter initiative\, the goa
 l of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Champion training is to increase a
 wareness and skills for clinical teachers\, staff and others who work with
  our learners\, so you can better address bias and discrimination when and
  where it happens. Faculty and staff from all UCSF affiliated schools/prog
 rams/units who work with learners are eligible to register.\n\nBy the end 
 of Session 2 training\, participants will be able to:\n\nrecognize bias an
 d discrimination in the learning environment\;use a shared language to tal
 k about bias and discrimination with learners\;implement skills to address
  bias and discrimination\; andapply practical tools for addressing bias an
 d discrimination in your day to day teaching encounters.During this traini
 ng\, participants will:apply new skills in a variety of case-based scenari
 os.participate in an assessment of awareness\, comfort\, and confidence us
 ing the skills learned.Technology Requirements\n\nA laptop or desktop comp
 uter with a video camera to participate in a Zoom format.\n\n*We have reva
 mped the Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Champion training to meet our 
 need to physically distance\, but still personally connect. The revamped t
 raining will still bring you the same content as the in-person training\, 
 via an online virtual format divided into 3 parts. The parts MUST be compl
 eted in order.\n\nOn your own\, online\, watching a few videos\, short pre
 -work\, and a brief reflection. Time: 30-40 minutes.\n\nSession 1 via Zoom
  with a group of faculty and staff from cross-campus. Time: 3 hours.\n\nSe
 ssion 2 via Zoom with a group of faculty and staff from cross-campus. Time
 : 3 hours.\n\nSessions 1 and 2 are offered separately. You can sign-up for
  any day you are available\, but it must be in consecutive order. Please c
 ommit to a time for both parts 1 and 2. After completing Session 2\, you w
 ill be listed on the Differences Matter website as one of our DEI Champion
 s.\n\n******\n\nUCSF is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Contin
 uing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physici
 ans.\n\nUCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Cate
 gory 1 Credits™ (upon completion of Session 2). Physicians should claim 
 only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the
  activity.\n\nFor the purpose of recertification\, the American Nurses Cre
 dentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizat
 ions accredited by the ACCME.\n\nThe California Board of Pharmacy accepts 
 as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard 
 of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA Categ
 ory 1 Credit™.
