 ssion moderated by Lekshmi Santhosh\n\nIn this Grand Rounds\, three global
  leaders in tuberculosis will describe UCSF’s pivotal role in combating 
 the tuberculosis (TB) epidemic and some key innovations in this critical a
 rea of medicine and public health. We will cover global and domestic trend
 s in epidemiology\, new developments in diagnosis\, prevention\, and care\
 , and the latest guidelines and policies shaping TB management worldwide.\
 n\nSpeakers\n\nBabak Javid\, MB\, PhD\, is a physician-scientist\, Wellcom
 e Trust investigator and associate professor in the Division of Experiment
 al Medicine. His research focuses on fundamental mycobacterial pathophysio
 logy\, regulation of adaptive protein synthesis\, molecular mechanisms of 
 antibiotic tolerance and human humoral immunity to tuberculosis. He joined
  the UCSF faculty in July 2020.\n\nPayam Nahid\, MD\, MPH\, is professor o
 f Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary\, Critical Care\, Allergy and Slee
 p Medicine at ZSFG. He is also director of Clinical Trials Operations in t
 he UCSF Office of Research\, director of the UCSF CTSA Trials Innovation N
 etwork Hub\, and director of the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis. His researc
 h focuses on clinical trials\, epidemiological\, and translational TB rese
 arch in international settings. Payam led the creation of the CDC’s Trea
 tment of Tuberculosis guidelines and served on WHO Guideline Development C
 ommittees for TB.\n\nPriya Shete\, MD\, MPH\, is associate professor of Me
 dicine in the Division of Pulmonary\, Critical Care\, Allergy and Sleep Me
 dicine at ZSFG. Her research focuses on improving access to and quality of
  both TB and Covid-19 care for vulnerable populations. She also worked wit
 h the Global TB Programme of the WHO\, and served as a public health advis
 or for USAID and a team lead for the California Department of Public Healt
 h for modeling and analytics during the Covid-19 response.\n\nHow to Atten
