Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors: The Good, the Bad, and the Emerging Field of Cardio-Oncology
Session moderated by Bob Wachter
This week at Medicine Grand Rounds we explore the emerging intersection of cardiology and cancer. Javid Moslehi, associate professor in the Division of Cardiology at UCSF Health and our recently recruited chief of cardio-oncology, and Katy Tsai, assistant professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UCSF Health and lead for our newly launched immunotherapy toxicity clinic, will explain how immune checkpoint inhibitors have rapidly transformed oncology care and describe the multi-organ immune-related toxicities associated with checkpoint inhibitors, with a special focus on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac toxicity.
Speakers:
Javid Moslehi, MD, is associate professor in the Division of Cardiology at UCSF Health who specializes in the cardiovascular health of cancer patients, cancer survivors and patients with immunological or metabolic problems. He serves as chief of UCSF's cardio-oncology and immunology section. His also directed cardio-oncology programs at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is the UCSF William Grossman Distinguished Professor in Cardiology.
Katy Tsai, MD, is assistant professor in the Division of Hematology & Oncology at UCSF Health who specializes in treating advanced melanoma and other non-melanoma skin cancers. She curates the Melanoma & Skin Cancer Program's clinical trial portfolio, serves as regional site committee chair, develops novel clinical trials, and is launching the CITE (Cancer Immunotherapy Toxicity Evaluation) clinic at UCSF.
We are pleased to welcome you back to in-person Grand Rounds. The UCSF community can join us at Parnassus at HSW-300 (lunch provided); our extended community can still watch live on Zoom or at their convenience on our YouTube channel.
