Hollander Rounds: Clinical Problem Solving with Monica Fung

Session moderated by Bob Wachter

For this Hollander Rounds, we have another Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) case to allow listeners to watch in real time how master clinicians reason through challenging cases. While getting the diagnosis “right” is impressive, the true learning comes from witnessing how experts navigate the zigs and zags of a diagnostic journey in a case that unfurls in real time (as it does in life, of course).

Our discussant will be Monica Fung, MD, assistant professor of Medicine and associate director of the Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases Program. Her research focuses the application of novel diagnostics to improve diagnosis of infections among transplant recipients. She also helps lead the Transplant/Immunocompromised Host track within the UCSF Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program and serves as a small group leader for the Pathogen Host Defense course in the School of Medicine.

Key teaching points based on the case preparation by Parnassus Chief Residents Tyrone Johnson, MD, and Madison Malone, MD, will follow the discussion.
