Using Machine Learning to Understand and Improve Our Decisions
This week’s speaker at Medical Grand Rounds is Ziad Obermeyer, Acting Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley and an expert on machine learning and AI. His lecture, “Using Machine Learning to Understand and Improve Our Decisions,” will explain how to to spot the kinds of problems machine learning can solve in medicine and discuss the pitfalls of these exercises.
He does research at the intersection of machine learning, medicine, and health policy. He previously was an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, where he received the Early Independence Award, the National Institutes of Health’s most prestigious award for exceptional junior scientists. He continues to practice emergency medicine in underserved parts of the US.
