Guardians or Culprits? The Hidden Role of Pericytes in Lung Injury and Repair  
Acute and chronic lung injury are often driven by inflammation, fibrosis, and vascular dysfunction, but the cellular contributors are not fully understood. This Grand Rounds will examine the emerging role of pericytes in maintaining pulmonary vascular integrity and how their response to injury may contribute to inflammation and tissue repair. The session will connect evolving research with clinical conditions including pulmonary fibrosis and viral lung infections, highlighting implications for therapeutic strategies.

About the Annual John F. Murray Visiting Professorship:
Each year, the ZSFG Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine honors
John F. Murray, MD, the founding chief of the division and a pioneering leader in pulmonary medicine, by inviting a distinguished visiting professor whose work reflects his enduring impact on the field.

Speaker:
Lynn Schnapp, MD, is the George R. and Elaine Love Professor and chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. She previously served as division chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and has held faculty positions at the University of Washington, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and UCSF. Schnapp is a past president of the American Thoracic Society and has served as a member of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Advisory Council.
