Family Building in Academic Psychiatry: Our Chosen Families

We are thrilled to invite DPBS residents and fellows to our annual Cultural Psychiatry Workshop! The theme of this year’s workshop is "Family Building in Academic Psychiatry: Our Chosen Families." This year we have lined up an exciting series of speakers who will share their perspective on family building and their chosen families across culture, sexual orientation, and gender identity during residency training and beyond.
Our speakers will range from our very own co-residents to the current and former Psychiatry RTP directors, Erick Hung and Ellen Haller. Keynote speakers will include the amazing former ZSFG and PES psychiatrist Dr. Joellen Rodriguez and Dr. Lisa Fortuna, who is the current Chief of Psychiatry and Vice Chair at ZSFG. We have also recruited Leslie Feingerts from Fertility Forward and UCSF Ob/Gyn, Dr. Marta Noel, to kick off the workshop by fostering discussion about fertility and family road mapping during training.
As every year, the workshop will take place during our dedicated residency didactics. The event will remain completely virtual this year to maximize resident attendance. We are also inviting incoming residents and current fellows in our department to join us in participating and learning more about these topics. We hope you can join us!
